We all know that with the change of a certain policy, there will be various supporting measures introduced to match it. Along with the protection term of the design patent changed from 10 years to 15 years in China and China's joining the Hague System on May 5 of this year, National Development and Reform Commission & Ministry of Finance jointly issued the Notification of the annuity fees and the individual designation fees at the renewal stage on March 25, 2022.

1. For the 11th to 15th year, the annuity fee (official fee) is RMB 3,000 per year. This will be applied to those design patent applications filed after and including June 1, 2021.

2. If the applicant files a design patent via Hague System and designates China as a Contracting Party, an individual designation fee at the renewal stage should be submitted every 5 years when the CN designation is granted.

The standard of individual designation fees at the renewal stage: RMB 4,100 for the first term (1st to 5th year), RMB 7,600 for the second term (6th to10th years), and RMB 15,000 for the third term (11th to15th year).
